  1. Caro Schnittker 9B - Weighing & Wanting Answers.

    1) This piece discusses outward beauty as you see by some of the visual clues such as the scale she is weighing herself on, the tape measure and the accessories on her dresser, which all indicate physical beauty.

    2) The woman feels self-conscious, unhappy with her physical appearance and pressured into looking a certain way, as indicated by the dark tones used, as well as her unhappy facial expressions and also her body language indicates lo self-esteem.

    3) The silhouette behind her (who appears to be a male) seems to putting pressure on her, so he could be her boyfriend or maybe a guy she likes, and she feels the need to look a certain way to be good enough for him.

    4) The dark tones in the background make me feel sad and gives me a negative energy, it also gives a feeling of emptiness and loneliness.

    5) The woman uses things like make-up and beauty products to make herself feel more beautiful, as you see by the brush, mirror, make-up and perfume on the dresser.

    1. Sorry I forgot question 6 -

Diane Victor's technique is to scratch (etching) on cardboard or metal with a sharp object to create a picture, then ink and print it.

  2. Hannah Howard 9B - weighing and wanting answers.

    1. This piece discusses the physical beauty of the woman. It is physical beauty because the girls body is skinny and she is weighing herself. She is also measuring herself with a tape measure around her waist.

    2. It makes the woman feel pressurized and depressed. She feels pressurized because the male figure behind her has his hand on her shoulder and is right behind the her. The woman is also kneeling which shows that she is inferior to the male figure. The girl feels depressed because in the mirror she sees a perfect woman that is not her. The woman in the mirror is happy and she wants to be like that perfect, happy woman.

    3. The male figure is putting pressure on the woman. The male figure has his hand on her skinny shoulder and is making the woman kneel down to seem weak and inferior. He is right behind her and looks like he is control of her and her life.

    4. The dark tones make me feel scared, sad and depressed. The dark tones indicate that it is an unhappy situation.

    5. The brush, the make-up and perfume on the table help to create the illusion that the girl is more beautiful with those products instead of being happy with her natural, true beauty.

    6. Diane Victor's editing technique is when you scratch on cardboard or a metal then ink it to create this unique picture.
